FG Launches Tuition-Free Postgraduate Training for Technical School Teachers
…New Programme Aims to Re-Energise Technical and Vocational Education Nationwide
The Federal Ministry of Education has officially announced the commencement of the 2025/2026 Technical Teachers Training Programme (TTTP)—a tuition-free, one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) designed to upgrade the teaching capacity of technical and vocational educators across Nigeria.
The initiative, rolled out through the Department of Technology and Science Education, is a strategic step by the government to revamp and strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the country.
According to the Ministry, the programme aims to “re-energise TVET” by equipping teachers with updated pedagogical knowledge, hands-on skills, and exposure to contemporary industry practices to ensure improved learning outcomes and global competitiveness.
Eligibility and Key Dates
The application portal opens on July 8, 2025, and will close on July 21, 2025. Interested teachers currently employed in public secondary technical schools or colleges and teaching technical or vocational subjects with at least five years left before retirement are eligible to apply.

The first cohort of the TTTP will be implemented in partnership with six universities, including:

Home Economics & Hospitality

Electrical/Electronics, among others
These focus areas are tailored to meet 21st-century industrial needs and to better prepare students for the modern workforce.
