Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has described the outcome of the Saturday, July 12, 2025, local government elections across Lagos State as a resounding endorsement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the people of Lagos. He hailed the party’s clean sweep as a victory for all Lagosians and a reflection of their trust in progressive governance.
Reacting to the election results, Governor Sanwo-Olu extended his warm congratulations to the APC family—its leadership, stakeholders, members, and supporters—for what he called a “well-deserved and overwhelming success.”
“This victory belongs to every Lagosian,” the Governor stated. “It is a clear affirmation of the trust reposed in the APC’s vision and in our collective commitment to inclusive, people-centered development, particularly at the grassroots level.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the newly elected Chairmen and Councillors in the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LGAs and LCDAs), urging them to see their triumph not as an end, but a call to responsible and accountable service.
“This mandate is not a trophy, but a responsibility. It is a sacred trust to serve all—regardless of political affiliation—with equity, transparency, and compassion,” he said. “Leadership demands humility. I urge you to govern with a deep sense of purpose, promote community development, and strengthen the bond between citizens and government.”
He also acknowledged party aspirants who participated in the primaries but did not secure tickets, praising their dedication to the democratic process and calling on them to remain active contributors to the party’s progress.
“In any democratic contest, not all emerge winners, but everyone has a role in our shared mission. Let us set aside personal differences, unite as one APC family, and continue to work together for the good of our communities,” Sanwo-Olu urged.
The Governor lauded the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for the credible and peaceful conduct of the polls, and commended security agencies for maintaining order throughout the process. Above all, he expressed deep appreciation to the people of Lagos for participating peacefully and reinforcing democratic values.
“As new local government administrations prepare to assume office, I reaffirm my commitment to partnering with them to ensure no community is left behind in our collective journey toward a Greater Lagos,” the Governor concluded.
