The Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC) has announced that the 2025 edition of its highly anticipated annual conference will take place on October 9, 2025, at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, under the theme: “Nigeria’s Energy Future: Exploring Opportunities, Addressing Risks for Sustainable Growth.”
According to a statement released by NAEC Chairman, Mr. Ugo Amadi, this year’s edition is expected to provide a strategic platform for addressing Nigeria’s energy challenges while unlocking new opportunities in a rapidly evolving global energy landscape.
Mr. Amadi noted that the confab will feature a distinguished lineup of keynote speakers including:
- Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas);
- Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil);
- Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power; and
- Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Also expected to attend are high-level representatives from leading international bodies such as the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), alongside chief executives of international oil companies (IOCs), independent energy producers, national oil firms, and other key industry stakeholders.
The conference, Amadi added, will culminate in the release of a comprehensive report capturing critical insights into Nigeria’s energy investment climate. The report will also include policy recommendations, a stakeholder collaboration framework, and a detailed outline of priority investment opportunities.
Dr. Adeola Yusuf, Chairman of the 2025 Conference Planning Committee, emphasized that the conference is designed to foster collaboration between stakeholders, policymakers, and experts across the energy value chain.
“Our goal is to promote bold ideas and strategic actions that can drive sustainable growth in Nigeria’s energy sector,” he said.
Key sessions at the conference will examine the effectiveness of Nigeria’s energy policy and regulatory landscape, with a particular focus on the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and its implications for investor confidence.
The roles of critical regulatory agencies such as the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) will also be explored.
Dr. Yusuf revealed that a special session titled “Accessing Financing and Investment Opportunities for Gas” will highlight the current financial climate for gas projects. Discussions will cover infrastructure development, the role of local and international financiers, and alternative funding strategies including Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and crowdfunding models.
A power sector-focused panel themed “The Power Solution: Energy Infrastructure, Technology and Integration” will address issues such as post-privatisation financing, renewable energy adoption, and the application of emerging technologies to improve efficiency and grid stability.
With its strong speaker lineup and future-focused agenda, NAEC 2025 is poised to shape critical conversations and inform actionable strategies for securing Nigeria’s energy future.
