Nigeria Leads the Charge: Climate Change Forum 2025 to Tackle Africa’s Sustainability Challenges

The Nigeria Climate Change Forum (NCCF) is set to take centerstage in Abuja, on the 28 – 29 th January 2025 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel.

The forum will bring together key stakeholders towards prioritizing the implementation of Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) engaging policy makers, innovators, and the private sector on how to accelerate the realization of Nigeria’s commitment to the NDC.

As a premier platform for collaboration, the forum aims to drive actionable solutions
and foster partnerships that ensure a sustainable future for Nigeria and the African
continent.

A Powerful Assembly of Partners, the NCCF boasts an impressive lineup of
supporting partners and participating entities, led by the Federal Ministry of
Environment, Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Nigerian House of Representatives, Africa Climate Foundation, UNIDO, Nigeria Climate Innovation Center, Kenya Climate Innovation Center, Africa Energy Council, Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Foundation, Citizenship and Leadership Training Center, and others.

This collective effort demonstrates the importance of a unified approach to climate
action.

The forum will host distinguished leaders, including Balarabe Abbas Lawal,
Honorable Minister for Environment, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, Honorable
Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Federal Ministry of
Innovation, Science and Technology, with the Honorable Minister of Women
Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, headlining the event.

In her pre-event message, the Honourable Minister highlighted women’s roles in
advancing Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). She discussed
initiatives to support energy transition and climate action to empower women,
including their involvement in green infrastructure projects and the use of innovative technology for sustainable development and economic growth, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

She stressed that women are key stakeholders in the fight against climate change. “We must ensure that their voices are heard, and their unique perspectives are
incorporated into national climate strategies. Climate change is a priority issue for the Ministry, and, as such, women must be involved in every stage of climate action planning and implementation. Overall, their presence and that of other federal and international stakeholders underscores Nigeria’s commitment to fostering innovation and promoting inclusivity as pivotal strategies in tackling the climate crisis”
