Chief Barnabas Olise, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Cakasa (Nig) company Ltd, has said that organisations need to innovate to remain competitive or they stagnate.
Olise said this while delivering a speech at the Annual Dinner of the Institute of Change Management (ICM) on Saturday with the theme ‘Adapting To A New Reality- Change Management in a Challenging Economy.”
According to him, change management is the way or process of ensuring that human resources are prepared to be able to adapt and thrive to the new changes orchestrated by the organisation in such a way that the objective of such a change is achieved.
Olise said that the current realities in the country requires a number of change management tools: clarity of vision, risk management, innovation and definition of a purpose.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the President/Chairman of the Governing Council, ICM, Mr Nat Osewele, FICM, said that the AGM reaffirms the commitment of ICM to excellence and to strengthen the bond that connects them as a community of change leaders.
Osewele said that some of the most significant accomplishments in the past years had been the unwavering commitment of ICM to equipping its members with cutting-edge knowledge and tools to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of change management.
“Key highlights have been our quarterly webinars, ‘The ICM Learning Series,’ designed to upskill our members in real-time.
“These sessions have not only delved into critical topics like digital transformation, adaptive leadership, and stakeholder engagement but also featured distinguished industry experts who have shared actionable insights.
“Change management thrives on collaboration and I am proud of how we have facilitated networking opportunities through our programmes, especially the annual dinner,” Osewele said.
He noted that as an institute, ICM was deeply committed to advocating the recognition and integration of change management as a core discipline across sectors.
“Through strategic partnerships and thought leadership initiatives, we will ensure change management practices are embedded into corporate organisational and institutional practices.
Also the Registrar of ICM, Mr Joseph Anetor, FICM, reaffirmed the commitment of ICM to fulfilling its mandate to regulate, train and certify change management practitioners in the country.
“Our mission is to build skilled and competent professionals to support businesses, organisations, agencies, institutions, etc, in their quest to adapt seamlessly to a changing world is yielding results,’ Anetor said.
Anetor said that the year 2025 would offer the institue the remarkable opportunity of advancing its mission of delivering innovative and transforming learning experiences to its members.
“We are excited to launch the CEO’s Spotlight, a platform where prominent executives will share invaluable insights on strategy and change management to enrich pour community,” Anetor added.
The dinner was attended by captains of industries and people from all walks of life.
The highlight of the ocassion is the presentation of gift to the keynote speaker, Olise, by Chief Femi Adeshina, a former presidential spokesman to former President Buhari.
As part of activities for the Annual Dinner, seven persons were inducted into the Institute.
They included: Olanrewaju Aina, Janet Tolowoetan, Opeyemi Adeyemi, Andrew Aghahowa, Timiebi Selekere, Udofia Idara and Edun Oladapo Emmanuel.
