Lagos Special Marshals Honour Past Leaders and Stakeholders
It was a night of honour, unity, and renewed vision as the Lagos State Special Marshals, under the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) RS2.1 Command, hosted a historic “End of Tenure and Awards Ceremony” to recognize and celebrate the contributions of past leaders, veteran marshals, and stakeholders.
The landmark event, organized by the newly elected state executive, brought together past state coordinators, unit heads, marshals aged 70 and above, and corporate organizations who played significant roles in strengthening the operations and legacy of the Special Marshals in Lagos.
Evergreen Awards were presented to deserving individuals and organizations for their outstanding support during the last administration. The awards served as a testament to dedication, selfless service, and lasting contributions to road safety and community service.
In attendance was Corps CC SDER, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, who commended the exceptional planning and emotional depth of the event. She urged that similar initiatives be adopted by the FRSC Headquarters in Abuja.
Also present was the Sector Commander of RS2.1 Lagos, Corps Commander Kehinde Ganiyu Hamzat, who lauded the Special Marshals for their integrity and leadership.
“Today’s event shows that the Special Marshals are not just people of integrity, but of remarkable calibre,” he said.
The newly elected State Coordinator, SM (Dr.) Olabisi O. Dennis, emphasized in his welcome address that the awards initiative was conceived by the immediate past administration and continued in the spirit of continuity, respect, and integrity.
He paid glowing tribute to his predecessor and newly elected Zonal Coordinator, SM Olusegun Akintan, for his visionary leadership and solid groundwork.
Dr. Dennis highlighted the core message of the evening:
“This event is more than recognition — it is a reaffirmation that in the Special Marshals, loyalty and service are honoured and rewarded.”
Prominent guests included:
Chief Barnabas O. Olise, Managing Director of Cakasa Nigeria Company Limited
Aare Bisi Lawal, former National Coordinator of Special Marshals
Prince Adenekan, former National Treasurer (represented by journalist Mr. Nurudeen Adegbenro Adenekan)
Elder Adeniyi, Immediate Past Zonal Coordinator for RS2 (Lagos & Ogun)
DCC Lukas Oguntade, Sector Head of Operations
DCC Obi, Sector Admin
Representative of the Zonal Commanding Officer for RS2, CRC Ayoola
For many attendees, particularly the veteran marshals and past unit coordinators, the event was deeply emotional and historic — the first formal recognition of their efforts in Lagos State.
The evening concluded with a call to action: to let the spirit of honour and appreciation fuel greater commitment and excellence in service.
