President Muhammadu Buhari has re-appointed Engr Clement Nze as the Director-General of the Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) for a second term of five years.
The letter of re-appointment was conveyed by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Mrs Esther Didi Walson-Jack on behalf of the Minister of Water Resources, Engr Suleiman Adamu, FNSE.
This re-appointment, according to the Permanent Secretary, comes as a result of the unflagging service and obvious achievements recorded by NIHSA within the last five years.
These include:
- Consistent publication of the Annual Flood Outlook
- Deployment of automatic weather observation systems
- 273 manual staff gauge stations have been established
- Alignment and networking with various agencies, local and international
- Enhanced training of staff and increase in working integrity
Appointed as NIHSA DG in 2018, Engr Nze as a Director, oversaw the Engineering Hydrology department of NIHSA for over four years. Prior to that, as a deputy director in the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, he was in the hydrology and hydrogeology unit.
Nze is a member of several professional and industry bodies such as the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS), Fellow Nigerian Association of Hydrological Sciences (FNAHS) and Nigerian Association of Hydrogeologists (NAH). He is also a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE)
