The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi have offered strategic insights into the ongoing efforts of the Lagos state government towards restructuring the state’s medical and healthcare infrastructure. This is part of the Lagos State blueprint on effective healthcare delivery.
These assertions were made in a video clip, part of a documentary highlighting the state’s activities, released on Sunday, April 17.
Such strategic interventions include upgrades to the existing 330 primary healthcare and 27 secondary healthcare facilities, embarking on Brownfield (new) and Green field (existing) projects, reduction of the energy use in all the hospitals by over 50percent to align with global climate change mitigation efforts and connecting all hospitals digitally through the Smart Health Infrastructure Platform (SHIP) initiative which will allow consultation with doctors and specialists outside the country for complicated processes.
In the clip, Prof. Abayomi reiterated that a lot of emphasis has been placed on the environment in which medical personnel work, the equipment they work with, the design of the buildings, relaxation centers. Another innovation is the ART4LIFE concept which focuses on the aesthetics of the buildings using art and colour concepts to promote better welfare and mental wellbeing.
