Participants at a workshop held in Delta State Nigeria have called for participatory efforts and enjoins government to make renewable energy policies more community friendly. According to these stakeholders, Renewable Energy Policies at the moment are mostly national. Therefore, making effort to localize and/or domesticate relevant ones locally would drive the growth and access especially of rural people to electricity through off-grid supply and renewable energy for example.
This call was made at a strategic workshop set up for a team of 10-civil society leaders to share the knowledge and need on localizing renewable energy policies and regulations held on November 5 and 6, 2020 in Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria.
According to the coordinator of the team, Mr Friday Elohor Oluowo, Delta State Chapter Coordinator of the Council for Renewable Energy Nigeria (CREN) and also the Centre coordinator at African Centre for Climate Actions and Rural DEvelopment (ACCARD); This team is already interfacing with relevant government Stateholders for the implementation and guarantee energy access to all- will drive the Small Scale and medium Enterprises (SME’s) and youth employment. I am very proud of their achievements and passion to drive the process in the State. Together through partnerships and collaborations will make the world a better place.
