…LSWC MD emphasizes and acknowledges significance of the project.
The residents of Akilo and adjoining communities are soon to enjoy access to potable water supply from the ongoing rehabilitation of Akilo Micro Waterworks, as the project is set to breathe new life.
It would be recalled that in February 2025, Environment Africa Magazine had reported the contract award and signing of a memorandum of understanding by the Lagos State Water Corporation (LSWC), in partnership with WaterAid Nigeria and Armani Beauty to rehabilitate the Micro Waterworks in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Council Development Area.
The project is designed to enhance potable water supply, which will provide over 100,000 residents/households within the area, with access to clean water through water kiosks and household connections within six months.
Speaking at the official contract signing event held at the corporation’s headquarters in Ijora, the LSWC Managing Director, Engr. Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani (MTT) had emphasized the significance of the project, as he acknowledged the importance of sustainable access to potable water supply.
Upon completion, the rehabilitated Akilo Micro Waterworks is expected to significantly improve access to safe and sustainable water supply.
Reports from the LSWC indicate the contractor had moved to site with intensive ongoing works to ensure the six month contract is commissioned and operational well before the stipulated timeframe.
