Xenergi Limited has categorically refuted claims suggesting its involvement in land encroachment or community disruption, as recently circulated in various press publications and a communication issued by Axxela Limited.
In a statement released by its Corporate Communications Department, Xenergi described the allegations as misleading and baseless, asserting that the ongoing dispute is a direct result of Axxela’s deliberate efforts to instigate discord between historically peaceful communities in Delta State.
According to Xenergi, the land in question was lawfully acquired through a meticulously structured Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement designed to drive infrastructure growth, economic empowerment, and sustainable development for the people of Delta State. Every aspect of this acquisition adhered strictly to legal and regulatory frameworks, with the full participation and consent of key stakeholders.
However, Axxela has chosen to disregard due process by engaging a neighboring community, one that has long maintained a brotherly relationship with the rightful landowners, in an attempt to incite tension and disrupt a legitimate development initiative. Rather than working within the bounds of existing legal frameworks, Axxela has resorted to creating discord through misinformation and intimidation, actions that serve only to derail progress, undermine peace, and sow division where none previously existed. Axxela’s actions are not only unlawful but also deeply troubling as they appear to be a deliberate attempt to create a community crisis.
XENERGI is a responsible and law-abiding corporate entity committed to transparency, equity, and sustainable development that has enjoyed a harmonious and collaborative relationship with communities in the area. We firmly believe that disputes of this nature should be addressed through dialogue, legal channels, and respect for institutional processes and not through coercion or the manipulation of community ties for selfish corporate gain.
“Axxela’s actions are hampering the evolution of the decade of gas initiative of the Federal Government of Nigeria and His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s overall developmental agenda driving economic growth centered around natural gas utilization, which has seen significant progress in the oil and gas fields in Delta State.
“Additionally, these actions constitute a major disruption to the efforts and progress made by the Executive Governor of Delta State in accelerating the development of the Delta Special Economic Zone (DSEZ).
“It is clear that Axxela’s actions are not only unlawful but also raises great concern, as they echo the very tactics that have historically contributed to instability in the Niger Delta – where development has been repeatedly hindered by corporate actors exploiting communal ties for their own benefit. Instead of engaging in tactics that provoke unnecessary conflict, we urge Axxela to respect the rule of law and cease all attempts to destabilize communities”, noted the statement from the corporate communication department.
The statement went on to make a call on all relevant authorities and stakeholders to intervene and ensure justice prevails.
According to Xenergi, “The peace and stability of our communities must not be jeopardized by corporate interests that refuse to follow established legal processes. Development must be rooted in fairness, respect for legal ownership, and genuine community engagement, not in attempts to rewrite history through coercion and misinformation”.
“XENERGI remains committed to working collaboratively with community leaders, authorities, and stakeholders to ensure a peaceful resolution. Our dedication to sustainable development, community empowerment, and fostering progress through lawful and ethical means remains unwavering.
“We urge Axxela to cease its disruptive tactics and adhere to lawful procedures in its business engagements to benefit all stakeholders in Delta State. The future of Delta State depends on sustainable, transparent, and fair development—principles that we will continue to uphold”. concluded the statement
