The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) joins the world in celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, themed “Accelerate Action.”
This theme, in a statement released moments ago by the chapter, underscores the urgent need to advance gender equality, address the slow pace of progress, and empower women and girls worldwide.
The statement went on to stress that Public Relations and strategic communications play a pivotal role in shaping narratives, influencing policies, and advocating for an inclusive society where women thrive.
The association further emphasized its’ pride that women are at the helm of affairs in leading organizations across Lagos, breaking barriers, and driving meaningful change.
Speaking on this year’s theme, the Chairman of Lagos NIPR, Mrs. Comfort Obot Nwankwo emphasized the importance of taking concrete steps toward gender inclusivity: “Gender equality is not just a moral imperative but a strategic necessity for sustainable development. As communicators, we must leverage our platforms to amplify women’s voices, challenge stereotypes, and push for policies that foster inclusivity in the workplace and society at large.”
“At Lagos NIPR, we celebrate the contributions of women in PR and beyond, and we remain committed to driving impactful conversations that accelerate action toward a more equitable future.”
The PR Advocate further encourages businesses, government institutions, and the media to use their platforms to champion gender equality, not just in words but through decisive actions that create lasting impact.
