The Lagos State government has continued its ongoing efforts to deepen institutional coordination around sustainable development, economic empowerment, and resilience planning.
This was emphasized on Wednesday, May 28 as the Honourable Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, received a delegation from the Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO), led by the Chief Resilience Officer, Dr. Folayinka Dania, on a courtesy visit to the Ministry.
The visit aimed to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and align the Ministry’s strategic programmes with the broader objectives of the revised Lagos Resilience Strategy (LRS 2.0).
While receiving the delegation in the Ministry’s Conference Room, Hon. Ajigbotafe reaffirmed the Ministry’s pivotal role in driving sustainable wealth creation and employment opportunities through well-targeted policies, innovative initiatives, and capacity-building programmes.
He noted the Ministry’s significant strides in supporting Lagosians through various intervention programmes while emphasising readiness to collaborate with LASRO to ensure all relevant initiatives are adequately reflected in the forthcoming strategy document.
On her part, Dr. Folayinka Dania explained that LASRO is currently engaging key stakeholders across the State to collect data and institutional insights to inform the development of Lagos Resilience Strategy 2.0.
The updated strategy is expected to reflect present realities, enhance policy responsiveness, and strengthen Lagos State’s capacity to withstand socio-economic and environmental shocks.
The Lagos Resilience Strategy Office is mandated to coordinate resilience-building activities across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). Its core mission is to reduce the State’s vulnerability to shocks and stresses while advancing long-term sustainability and social equity.
Also present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Esv. Wasiu Adebayo Olayinka, and the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), Ms. Feyisayo Alayande, who expressed support for the collaboration and emphasised the importance of integrating ongoing wealth creation programmes into the new resilience strategy.
