In a concerted effort to significantly enhance its business environment, the Lagos State Government, through its Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI), recently concluded a crucial two-day technical meeting with 17 participating Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
As the state’s lead reform coordinating entity, the OTCI is diligently preparing for an upcoming World Bank assessment, emphasising collaboration among stakeholders to cultivate a more business-friendly ecosystem.
Mrs. Toyin Ajous-Ademuyiwa, Director-General of the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation, underscored the strategic importance of these technical sessions. She stated that the meetings represent a deep commitment to improving the state’s business environment, which will ultimately lead to better Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) rankings and stimulate economic growth.
Mrs. Anjous-Ademuyiwa further emphasised that the reform initiatives extend beyond securing funding, focusing instead on building sustainable systems that will benefit the state’s future operations.
The multifaceted significance of these meetings is evident in their aim, which is to foster robust collaboration and coordination among agencies, ensure the accuracy and transparency of crucial data, identify existing gaps and challenges, and facilitate the sharing of best practices.
Furthermore, the sessions are dedicated to formulating comprehensive action plans, establishing effective monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, building trust and engagement among all stakeholders, and meticulously preparing for the anticipated World Bank ratings. Participating agencies have been tasked with submitting their progress reports without delay.
Mr. Bolaji Onimole, Head of Development Partner at the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, strongly encouraged the MDAs to leverage the Business Environment Reform Action Plan (BERAP) for developing their reports.
He highlighted BERAP as a strategic initiative that promotes accountability, enhances communication, and drives continuous improvement in the Ease of Doing Business. This structured approach not only contributes to better reporting practices but also fosters a collaborative environment conducive to meaningful reforms.
The Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation is keenly anticipating the collaborative efforts that will emerge from these vital discussions, confident that they will pave the way for a more streamlined and attractive business landscape in Lagos State.
