Seplat Energy PLC, a leading Nigerian independent energy company listed on both the Nigerian Exchange and the London Stock Exchange, has reiterated its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s indigenous gas revolution. Emphasizing its belief in “energy for all, powered by gas,” the company is championing a sustainable, Nigerian-led energy future.
Speaking at the ongoing Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, USA, Mr. Oladotun Isiaka, Managing Director of Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited (SEPNU), shared it’s stance during a panel session hosted by the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN), titled “Harnessing Nigeria’s Gas Potential for Domestic Utilization and Global Export Market.”
Isiaka stressed the importance of collaboration across the gas value chain to unlock the country’s vast reserves and transform them into real economic value.
He highlighted Seplat Energy’s leadership in domestic gas development, noting its significant operational footprint, including the Oben and Sapele Gas Processing Plants—together supplying around 30% of Nigeria’s gas-fired power.
Furthering its commitment, Seplat is also developing the ANOH Gas Processing Plant—a 300 MMscfd project expected to commence operations in 2025, in partnership with the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), a subsidiary of NNPC Ltd.
He pointed to the vast potential of Seplat’s offshore gas assets and emphasized that indigenous leadership, supported by enabling policies and financing, is essential for Nigeria to realize its gas ambitions.
Aligned with the national “Decade of Gas” strategy, Seplat is also investing in CNG for transportation, LPG for clean cooking, and electrification projects in underserved communities—reinforcing its role in driving clean and inclusive energy access.
“Nigeria holds over 200 Tcf of proven gas reserves, placing it among the top 10 globally,” Isiaka noted. “We stand at a turning point—where gas must power our people, drive industrial growth, and capture export value. For Seplat Energy, gas is not merely a transition fuel; it is the engine of Nigeria’s energy future—capable of displacing biomass in cooking and diesel in power generation.”
