Funmi Ogbue, CEO and founder of Zigma, was recently honored with the “Outstanding Woman in Energy (Local Content)” award at the 4th edition of the Women in Maritime & Energy (WiME) Awards. The ceremony, held on March 28, 2024, at Oriental Hotel in Lagos, celebrated women who have made significant contributions to the Maritime and Energy sectors.
In her speech, Funmi expressed that this award serves as a recognition of the hard work and sleepless nights spent advocating for gender development and advancing her companies, Zigma and Jakeriley Limited. Through these efforts, she aims to position Zigma as a leading integrated oil and gas company while creating opportunities for the transformation of public sector entities and fostering professional growth for better productivity.
The award was presented in her absence, as she was represented by her son, Tobe, who attended the event on her behalf.
Tunbosun Afolayan, Executive Director of WiME, highlighted Mrs Ogbue’s efforts in building an outstanding community within the Women in Energy Network (WEIN) and fostering inclusive initiatives within the energy sector.
Funmi acknowledged the honor and the responsibility that comes with it, emphasizing that this recognition is a call to action to do even more. She expressed her appreciation for the award and reaffirmed her commitment to advancing equality, diversity, and inclusion within the Maritime and Energy industries in Nigeria and across Africa.
