Xenergi Limited has categorically refuted claims suggesting its involvement in land encroachment or community disruption, as recently circulated in various media reports due to a statement issued by Axxela Limited.
In a statement signed by Egoyibo Ekpeti of its Corporate Communications Department, Xenergi described the allegations as misleading and baseless, asserting that the ongoing dispute is a direct result of Axxela’s deliberate efforts to instigate discord between historically peaceful communities in Delta State.
Xenergi further stated that Axxela’s assertion that ‘Xenergi is making calculated efforts to monopolize gas supply in the region, using Emu Ebendo community as a proxy is what is essentially a trade war”, is quite unfortunate as Xenergi has remained a focused commercial entity.
“Up till this moment, we have maintained years of healthy and peaceful coexistence with our host communities, leading to optimized field operations with minimal social or security disruptions. This has been possible through our commitment to peaceful and lawful acquisition of land from our host communities”, noted Ekpeti.
According to Xenergi, “Our operations are based on meticulously structured Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and collaborative community arrangements designed to drive infrastructure growth, economic empowerment, and sustainable development for the people of Delta State.
“Our land acquisition processes also adhere strictly to legal and regulatory frameworks, with the full participation and consent of key stakeholders.
XENERGI, reaffirmed the statement, is a responsible and law-abiding corporate entity committed to transparency, equity, and sustainable development that has enjoyed a harmonious and collaborative relationship with communities in the area.
“We firmly believe that disputes of this nature should be addressed through dialogue, legal channels, and respect for institutional processes. And we are committed to any process that would lead to harmonious resolutions and bring all parties into collaboration in delivering the government’s aspirations in the gas industry as captured in the Decade of Gas programme”, asserted Ekpeti.
The statement went on to make a call on all relevant authorities and stakeholders to intervene and ensure justice prevails.
Emphasizing the need for a peaceful resolution, the Xenergi spokesperson remarked, “The peace and stability of our communities must not be jeopardized by corporate interests that refuse to follow established legal processes. Development must be rooted in fairness, respect for legal ownership, and genuine community engagement, not in attempts to rewrite history through coercion and misinformation”.
“XENERGI remains committed to working collaboratively with community leaders, authorities, and stakeholders to ensure a peaceful resolution. Our dedication to sustainable development, community empowerment, and fostering progress through lawful and ethical means remains unwavering.
“We urge all parties to cease disruptive tactics and adhere to lawful procedures in their business engagements so as to benefit all stakeholders in Delta State. The future of Delta State depends on sustainable, transparent, and fair development—principles that we will continue to uphold”. concluded Xenergi.
