The Chairman of IPPG, Abdulrazaq Isa has identified strategic collaborations and discussions in the oil and gas sector as platforms to foster dialogue and contribute in shaping Africa’s energy future.
Isa stated this during the Ministerial Welcome Dinner of the 8th Edition of the Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES), sponsored by the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG).
In his remarks, Mr. Isa emphasized the significance of the Welcome Dinner as a forum for exchanging ideas and co-creating solutions to key challenges in the industry. He underscored its role in setting the stage for impactful discussions and meaningful collaborations that could shape the future of Africa’s energy sector.
Reflecting on last year’s event, Mr. Isa highlighted IPPG’s advocacy for Nigeria to host the Africa Energy Bank (AEB). He celebrated the successful realization of this vision and acknowledged the efforts of Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, who championed the initiative. He also extended appreciation to APPO and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) for their commitment to establishing the AEB, which he described as a landmark achievement for Africa’s energy security and economic growth. The bank is expected to strengthen intra-African collaboration and serve as a strategic platform for meeting the continent’s energy needs.
Isa further noted that the 2025 summit comes at a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, marked by ongoing government-led industry reforms. He commended the progress made in concluding International Oil Companies (IOC) divestments, which have led to Nigerian independent companies playing a dominant role in onshore and shallow water acreages. This transition, he stated, represents a promising future for the industry and positions IPPG to play a more significant role in shaping Nigeria’s energy landscape.
A highlight of the evening was the unveiling of IPPG’s new logo, symbolizing a renewed commitment to advancing the Nigerian oil and gas industry. Mr. Isa emphasized that since its inception nearly a decade ago, IPPG has been dedicated to fostering growth, innovation, and sustainability in the sector. The new logo, he noted, represents a bold step forward in the organization’s mission to enhance Nigeria’s global energy reputation and drive industry transformation.
In closing, Mr. Isa expressed commitment for continued collaboration among stakeholders toward achieving energy prosperity.
