The NNPC Ltd have clarified that reports of an explosion at the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) are inaccurate; insisting that no such incident occurred at the facility.
In a statement by Olufemi Soneye, the chief corporate communications officer of NNPCL, on January 25, 2025, WRPC Area 1 operations were intentionally halted to facilitate planned intervention works on select equipment. The maintenance activities, which include work on field instruments affecting operational stability, are crucial for sustaining consistent production of key products such as Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and Kerosene (Kero).
NNPC Ltd. reports that the routine maintenance is progressing according to schedule, with Area 1 expected to resume operations within a few days. Despite the ongoing interventions, AGO loading has been sustained at an average rate of eight trucks per day over the past 11 days, ensuring continued supply and uninterrupted truck load-out operations.
The company emphasizes its commitment to maintaining a stable supply of petroleum products and appreciates the support and understanding of stakeholders during this essential maintenance period.
