The Lagos State Government has called on residents in the State to take ownership of lighting installations and protect them.
This was part of the recommendation made at the Lagos State Electricity Board (LSEB) stakeholders’ town hall engagement which took place recently at Ikoyi, Lagos.
The event brought together key stakeholders to discuss the security of electrical infrastructures and the importance of community collaboration.
Addressing the gathering, the General Manager, Engr. Balogun emphasised that community engagement is crucial for safeguarding public utilities. He encouraged residents to play an active role in securing these assets, reiterating that their safety is a shared responsibility.
Engr. Omotayo Halid of the Public Lighting Unit of LSEB stressed the importance of being security-conscious and proactive in reporting suspicious activities around public lighting installations.
Mr. Ishola Oluboye, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Lion Building, echoed these sentiments, urging residents to remain vigilant and act responsibly to protect electrical infrastructures. He was joined by other divisional police officers from the Ikoyi/Obalende, Victoria Island, and Lagos Island axis, who reinforced the need for a unified approach to security within the communities.
