Dr. Olufolakemi Cole-Adeife, a Consultant Physician, Dermatologist, and Venereologist, at the Department of Internal Medicine, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), and an Associate Lecturer at the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), has been awarded the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) Young Dermatologists International Achievement Award (YDIA) 2025 for the Africa region.
Following a nomination by the Nigerian Association of Dermatologists, and a review of all nominations received by the Awards Committee, Dr. Cole-Adeife was selected as the recipient of the ILDS Young Dermatologists International Achievement Award 2025 for the Africa region for her exceptional commitment to patient care, education, and research, particularly in underserved communities.
Dr. Cole-Adeife will be honoured with a medal during the opening session at the 4th ILDS World Skin Summit (WSS) in Cape Town, South Africa in October 2025 to celebrate her achievements while highlighting the critical importance of dermatological care in Africa.
The YDIA Award is presented every two years to one recipient per ILDS region who has made an outstanding contribution to international dermatology, particularly for patients in underserved areas of the world.
According to the award organisers, Dr. Cole-Adeife has consistently gone above and beyond in advancing dermatological health in Nigeria.
