The Lagos State Government has said that it would soon arrange a dialogue meeting with developers/owners of distress buildings on how best to address the redesign and remodelling of such structures.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, in Alausa at the weekend.
Olumide said that the prevalence of distressed buildings in different parts of the state was worrisome and called for the urgent attention of all stakeholders.
He said that the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development as mandated by the Lagos State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law, 2019, as amended, was willing to extend its responsibility for approving remodeling of existing buildings to providing technical assistance to developers and owners of distressed buildings, especially on design and remodeling of such buildings.
He added that buildings have their lifespans and should be continuously maintained as the lifespans approach rather than being left to degenerate to the level of distress and eventual collapse, which are inimical to a safe and sustainable environment.
He said that the proposed strategic dialogue meeting would be a game changer in the sector by offering technical support, providing viable alternatives to demolition, and combating the menace of distressed buildings in the state.
The Commissioner hinted that the meeting would come up sometime in November 2024.
Hey there! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog. Is it tough to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I’m thinking about making my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Appreciate it
I like the efforts you have put in this, thankyou for all the great blog posts.
Most of whatever you say is supprisingly appropriate and it makes me ponder why I had not looked at this with this light before. This particular article really did switch the light on for me personally as far as this particular topic goes. But there is actually 1 factor I am not really too comfy with and while I make an effort to reconcile that with the actual central theme of the point, allow me see exactly what all the rest of the visitors have to point out.Very well done.
