The Nigerian Chapter of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) have given assurances that the planned Nigeria Annual International Conference & Exhibition (NAICE), scheduled to hold from Monday, August 5 to Wednesday, August 7, 2024 in Lagos, Nigeria will proceed as planned despite fears of disruptive nationwide protests.
This was disclosed in a statement moments ago by Engr. Salahuddeen Tahir, Chairman of SPE Nigeria Council.
Over the last few days, anxiety have been raised over the planned nationwide protests, reportedly scheduled to begin from the first day of August, 2024.
Lagos State has always been regarded as the epicenter of such protests, leading to fears that scheduled events within the state and around that time frame would be cancelled or postponed.
However, the Organizers of NAICE 2024 have assured participants that their safety and well-being remain the top priority and that the conference would go on as scheduled.
According to Engr Tahir, they are in ongoing communication with relevant agencies and authorities to ensure a secure environment throughout the event.
“The SPE Nigeria Council remains committed to delivering a valuable conference experience and will provide updates as the situation develops”.
“The Council appreciates the continued support and understanding of all attendees and is taking all necessary measures to ensure both safety and success for the event” reiterated the SPE Nigeria Chair.
