The global community will have the opportunity to witness the plethora of community-led regenerative agriculture initiatives from around the world that are to be spotlighted at the upcoming 2025 Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN) General Assembly and Conference.
An annual gathering, this year’s conference will be hosted by the Indonesian non-profit organization Kaleka in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan from the 16th to 20th of June 2025 with the aim of sharing learning from community-led regenerative agriculture initiatives from around the world.
In a media statement by the communications consultant, Louise Hunt, S.A.N representatives from Central and South America, Europe, Africa, South and Southeast Asia will join Kaleka in sharing their achievements and challenges in implementing grassroots sustainable agriculture solutions that are becoming increasingly important strategies for biodiversity conservation and climate resilience.
With the theme “Transforming Global Agriculture Through Radical Collaboration”, discussions will be led by diverse speakers including agricultural leaders, policymakers, scientists and smallholder farmers on pressing topics such as agrobiodiversity and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). The event will be followed by field visits to farming communities which are participating in Kaleka’s regenerative agriculture and sustainable livelihoods projects that highlight real-world applications of regenerative practices and biodiversity restoration.
“Kaleka, as Indonesia’s leading non-profit organisation working on sustainable agri-food systems and supply chains, is proud to host the event,” says Bernadinus Steni, Executive Director of Kaleka.
“As a member of SAN, Kaleka is keen to learn from other members about their work on regenerative agriculture and agri-food systems from around the world.
“Kaleka is also keen to share its experiences protecting and restoring nature at the landscape scale in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. As one of the pioneers of landscape and jurisdictional approaches in Indonesia, Kaleka has over ten years of experience in working with local governments, commodity producers, farmers and indigenous communities to create innovative approaches that protect nature and human rights while empowering local peoples.” remarked Steni
