Geoplex Drillteq Limited, an indigenous oilfield services company, has been honoured with the 2026 Indigenous Service Company Award by the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN).
The award was presented at an OGTAN event held at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Delta State, which brought together oil and gas professionals, service companies, trainers and industry experts to deliberate on human capital development and the future of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The conference, themed “Empowering People. Driving Performance. Shaping the Future of the Oil & Gas,” also recognised energy professionals, trainers and organisations contributing to the development of human capital in the sector.
Geoplex Drillteq, which has more than two decades of experience, operates in Nigeria and across Sub-Saharan Africa. The company is among the growing indigenous oilfield service providers in the region and is led by its Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Wole Ogunsanya.
The company holds API Q2 certification, an industry standard associated with quality management and operational excellence, and provides integrated and turnkey solutions supported by its equipment assets across the upstream and midstream segments of the oil and gas industry.
Its core service offerings include drilling rigs, electric wireline logging, measurement and logging while drilling (MWD/LWD), oil well cementing, coiled tubing, completions, slickline, well testing and FPSO services.
OGTAN Applauds Geoplex’s Contribution
Speaking at the event, OGTAN President, Engr. Chris Osarunmewense, commended Geoplex Drillteq for its contribution to the development of Nigeria’s indigenous oilfield services industry.
Osarunmewense said the conference formed part of a series of engagements designed to examine ways of sustaining and developing the skilled workforce required to unlock the potential of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
He said the gathering provided stakeholders with an opportunity to move beyond their individual organisational and professional responsibilities and focus on a shared priority, the people who drive Nigeria’s energy industry and the capabilities needed to position the sector for the future.
The OGTAN president drew a comparison between golf and human capital development, noting that the game demands preparation, discipline, concentration, patience, strategy and continuous improvement.
According to him, success is not necessarily achieved through one perfect shot but through consistently making sound decisions, learning from mistakes and pursuing continuous improvement.
He congratulated the participants and award recipients, noting that their involvement contributed to strengthening the professional relationships and community supporting the conference.
Warri’s Strategic Place in Nigeria’s Oil Industry
Osarunmewense also highlighted the significance of holding the event in Warri, describing the city as an important location in the history of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
He noted that the Niger Delta has remained central to Nigeria’s petroleum industry for decades, with the region’s history closely connected to petroleum exploration and production, processing, oilfield services, technical manpower development and community development.
According to him, Warri represents a critical intersection of industry, technical expertise, communities, institutions and human capital, making it an appropriate setting for conversations about the future of Nigeria’s energy workforce.
The recognition of Geoplex Drillteq at the OGTAN event underscores the continuing role of indigenous oilfield service companies in building local technical capacity and strengthening Nigeria’s participation across the oil and gas value chain.
