U.S. DOE unveils $215.5m oil, gas technology funding
The United States Department of Energy (DOE) has announced two funding opportunities worth up to 215.5 million dollars to advance domestic oil and natural gas production, recovery and infrastructure technologies.
The DOE said the programmes would be managed through its Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office in collaboration with the National Energy Technology Laboratory.
It said the first programme, valued at 65.5 million dollars, would support projects that improve oil and gas production efficiency.
The programme will also strengthen pipeline and delivery infrastructure, enhance digital monitoring systems and unlock stranded hydrocarbon resources.
According to the DOE, applications for the programme will close on Sept. 22, 2026.
The department said the initiative is designed to encourage innovative technologies that improve the reliability and competitiveness of U.S. energy production and transportation systems.
The second funding opportunity provides up to 150 million dollars for projects on improved oil and gas recovery and produced water management technologies.
The DOE said the programme would support technologies for enhanced hydrocarbon recovery, treatment, reuse and management of produced water.
It added that the initiative aims to increase resource recovery, reduce operating costs and address water management challenges in producing regions.
Applications for the second programme will close on Sept. 8, 2026.
Eligible applicants include private companies, universities, national laboratories and non-profit organisations.
The announcement was first published by Gas Compression Magazine.
