Umunya Community to Host Free Medical Mission Aug. 4
Residents of Umunya community in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State will benefit from a free medical mission scheduled for Aug. 4 as part of efforts to improve access to quality healthcare.
The outreach, themed “Care. Prevent. Empower,” is being organised by ASA-USA in collaboration with philanthropist and community leader, Chief John O. Agulue (Akunnia), and the Umunya Professional Association (UPA).
According to the organisers, the programme aligns with the United Nations 2030 Agenda, particularly Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3, which promotes good health and well-being while advancing the principle of “Leave No One Behind.”
The medical mission will hold at Saint Theresa’s High School Compound, Umunya, on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
The organisers said the outreach would provide free medical consultations, health education and general health screenings to residents.
They added that free essential medications would also be distributed to beneficiaries requiring treatment following medical examinations.
The programme will also focus on maternal and child healthcare by providing comprehensive care and support for women and children.
According to the organisers, the initiative is expected to strengthen community wellbeing through preventive healthcare, health awareness and improved access to essential medical services.
Chief Agulue, the sponsor of the programme, said the initiative reflected his commitment to improving healthcare delivery and supporting vulnerable members of the community.
The outreach is supported by the Umunya Youth Sustainable Network, Bar Juni and Irene Menakaya Foundation International, the Umunya Professional Association (UPA), and ASA-USA.
The organisers urged residents to take advantage of the free medical services, describing preventive healthcare as essential to building healthier and more resilient communities.
They reaffirmed their commitment to promoting sustainable community development through partnerships that improve public health and empower local residents.
