The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Engr. Jennifer Adighije, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable electricity across Nigeria, emphasizing that improved power supply remains fundamental to economic growth, industrial development, and the consolidation of democratic gains.
Speaking in a goodwill message to mark Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebration, Adighije stated that democracy can only thrive when citizens, businesses, and communities have access to critical infrastructure, particularly dependable electricity needed to drive productivity and economic prosperity.
According to her, access to stable power supply remains one of the most important enablers of industrial expansion, job creation, entrepreneurship, and improved living standards, underscoring NDPHC’s continued efforts to bridge electricity access gaps across the country.
“At NDPHC, we remain committed to delivering reliable electricity that drives industries, empowers communities, and fuels national progress,” Adighije said.
She noted that electricity is far more than a utility service, describing it as a strategic driver of national development and economic transformation. She explained that businesses require predictable and uninterrupted power to operate efficiently, increase productivity, reduce operating costs, and scale sustainably.
Highlighting one of the company’s flagship initiatives, Adighije described the Eligible Customer Programme (ECP) as a transformative intervention designed to provide large industrial and commercial consumers with direct access to reliable electricity supply.
“Our Eligible Customer Programme gives businesses reliable, predictable electricity so they can focus on scaling operations, not power outages,” she stated.
The NDPHC boss explained that the programme is helping businesses reduce energy uncertainty, minimize operational disruptions, and strengthen competitiveness by guaranteeing more consistent electricity supply.
She reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda through strategic power sector interventions, noting that improved electricity access will continue to play a critical role in unlocking industrial growth, enhancing business productivity, and expanding the dividends of democracy.
Adighije also called for stronger collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders to build a resilient and efficient electricity market capable of meeting Nigeria’s growing energy demands.
According to her, reliable electricity remains indispensable to manufacturing growth, commercial expansion, and employment generation, making initiatives such as the Eligible Customer Programme essential to accelerating Nigeria’s industrialization efforts.
NDPHC further noted that businesses participating in the programme stand to benefit from reduced energy costs, improved operational efficiency, and enhanced long-term energy security. Access to stable electricity, the company said, enables firms to increase production capacity, reduce downtime associated with power outages, and redirect savings toward innovation, expansion, and business development.
