The Federal Government has assured beneficiaries of the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) that all verified payment issues will be resolved, as the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction moves to overhaul the schemes for long-term sustainability.
The Honourable Minister, Dr. Bernard Doro, gave the assurance on Tuesday after a meeting with representatives of beneficiary groups, amid growing concerns over delayed and disputed payments under the programmes.
According to the minister, a comprehensive review of the National Social Investment Programmes is already underway in collaboration with the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA), with a focus on addressing structural weaknesses affecting service delivery.
“All legitimate and verified cases are being resolved, and beneficiaries with confirmed payment challenges will receive what is due to them,” Dr. Doro said.
He noted that since assuming office, the ministry has prioritised identifying operational gaps within the schemes, while putting in place reforms aimed at improving transparency, efficiency and sustainability.
Dr. Doro further disclosed that the planned reforms would include clear exit strategies, in alignment with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, to ensure that social interventions deliver lasting impact rather than prolonged dependency.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continued engagement with beneficiaries and stakeholders to guarantee timely payments and improved programme implementation.
Beneficiaries seeking clarification or updates were advised to contact the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction or the National Social Investment Programmes Agency
