Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has reaffirmed its commitment to market stability and uninterrupted nationwide supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), as it confirmed that domestic fuel distribution continues at scale following recent price adjustments.
The refinery disclosed that it is currently supplying about 50 million litres of PMS daily to the Nigerian market, with evacuation and nationwide distribution operating without disruption. The assurance comes amid public scrutiny of fuel pricing and availability after the festive period.
According to the refinery, the recent price realignment of PMS reflects a return to sustainable market conditions following a deliberate temporary price support intervention introduced during the festive season.
The intervention, implemented to ease household pressure during a period of elevated consumer spending, marked the second consecutive festive season in which the refinery absorbed significant costs in the national interest. In 2024, this support came in the form of logistics assistance, while in 2025 the refinery implemented a direct price reduction to promote affordability and market calm.
However, Dangote Refinery noted that despite the reduced ex-gantry price, many filling stations failed to pass on the benefits to consumers, limiting the impact of the intervention at the retail level.
With the festive period concluded, PMS prices were modestly adjusted to ensure long-term affordability, operational sustainability, and market stability. Under the current pricing structure, the gantry price stands at ₦799 per litre, while MRS retail outlets are selling PMS at ₦839 per litre.
Speaking on the refinery’s operational capacity, Chief Executive Officer, David Bird, said Dangote Refinery continues to maintain steady supply volumes despite market fluctuations.
He explained that the refinery’s design flexibility allows it to process a wide range of crude oil and intermediate feedstocks, enabling continued PMS production even during planned maintenance activities.
“This capability ensures that domestic fuel supply remains stable and uninterrupted,” Bird said, adding that nationwide evacuation and distribution systems are functioning normally.
As a domestic producer, Dangote Petroleum Refinery said it continues to play a critical role in reducing Nigeria’s exposure to import-related price volatility and external supply disruptions.
The refinery described itself as a stabilising force in the downstream petroleum sector, helping to strengthen energy security while supporting the transition toward a more self-reliant fuel supply system.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery reaffirmed its focus on energy security, price stability, and long-term value creation for Nigerians, as it continues to scale domestic refining capacity and deepen market confidence.
