NNPC Limited has restored full operations on the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS), weeks after an explosion disrupted the critical gas infrastructure in Warri, Delta State, on December 10, 2025.
The company said emergency response measures were activated immediately following the incident, with technical teams deployed to contain the situation, assess damage, and begin repairs. The affected section of the pipeline was repaired, pressure-tested, and safely recommissioned, bringing the system back into service.
The restoration, completed in record time, was achieved through coordinated efforts involving host communities, regulators, security agencies, technical partners, and NNPC staff. According to the company, the collaboration ensured that safety and environmental standards were maintained throughout the repair process.
NNPC Limited noted that protecting communities and minimizing environmental impact were central to the response, alongside restoring the integrity and reliability of the asset.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining critical energy infrastructure and supporting Nigeria’s energy security.
The Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System plays a vital role in transporting gas to power plants and industrial users across the country. Its return to full operation is expected to stabilize gas supply and support electricity generation and industrial activity.
