It was a night of celebration. Of recognizing the strategies that support the success of communications and public relations targets; of the professionals who, mostly behind the scenes, shape perceptions, push influence and manage imaging.
Friday, 12th of December, 2025 was a night where excellence and professionalism was applauded. It was a night when the Lagos State Chapter of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) hosted the 10th edition of the Lagos Public Relations Industry Gala and Awards (LaPRIGA 2025) at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, marking a decade of excellence, innovation, and professionalism in Nigeria’s public relations industry.
In a country where perception often shapes policy, trust defines institutions, and communication can determine whether reforms succeed or fail, public relations is far more than image management — it is influence with consequence.
Held under the theme “Nox Excellentia – Night of Excellence,” the milestone event convened leading communication professionals, corporate executives, public sector leaders, academics, media practitioners, and key stakeholders from across Nigeria’s communications ecosystem. The gathering reinforced LaPRIGA’s reputation as the country’s foremost public relations awards platform and one of the most respected in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Delivering the welcome address, Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of NIPR, Dr. Samuel Ayetutu, fnipr, frpa, described LaPRIGA as a symbol of shared vision and professional commitment within the industry.
“Ten years on, LaPRIGA stands tall as a testament to what collective passion and professional excellence can achieve. Tonight is not just a celebration; it is a reaffirmation of excellence as the enduring value of our profession,” he said.
Dr. Ayetutu noted that LaPRIGA has evolved into what many now regard as the ‘Oscar of the Public Relations Industry in Nigeria,’ commending the Chapter’s deliberate efforts to deliver a world-class experience befitting the 10th-anniversary milestone. He also applauded the Planning and Selection Committees for upholding credibility, transparency, and rigorous evaluation standards.
Speaking on the awards process, Chairman of the Selection Committee, Mr. Chido Nwakama, disclosed that the 2025 edition attracted over 100 entries across 19 award categories, reflecting the growing relevance of LaPRIGA and improving standards of professional practice within the industry.
While commending the quality of submissions, Mr. Nwakama urged practitioners to embrace peer review and professional validation as essential drivers of credibility and growth.
“Submitting your work for scrutiny is a professional stride, not a vulnerability. Excellence thrives when it is confidently showcased,” he stated.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards to individuals, agencies, and organisations whose work demonstrated strategic insight, creativity, ethical practice, and measurable impact across diverse sectors.
