The Sahara Group Foundation has expanded its recycling network in Lagos with the launch of its 16th Sahara Go-Recycling Hub, located in Lekki. The new hub reinforces the Foundation’s ongoing investment in environmental sustainability, community engagement, and circular economy development.
A key feature of the Lekki facility is a solar-powered Reverse Vending Machine (RVM)—the first of its kind within the Go-Recycling network. The machine allows residents to deposit recyclable materials and receive rewards, integrating clean energy technology into the recycling process.
The Foundation’s Go-Recycling Initiative aims to reduce waste, promote responsible disposal habits, and create economic opportunities for local residents through cash incentives for recyclables. Since its inception, the initiative has recovered more than 650 tonnes of waste and distributed over ₦55 million to participating households. More than 1,200 households have reportedly benefited from the programme’s income-support mechanism.
Speaking at the commissioning, Chidilim Menakaya, Director of Sahara Group Foundation, said the new hub demonstrates the organisation’s focus on practical, community-based solutions:
“Integrating solar-powered technology into the Lekki Hub highlights how innovation can support environmental responsibility while improving quality of life.”
The event was attended by executives from Sahara Group and its affiliates, including Asharami Synergy and Egbin Power Plc, as well as traditional leaders, community representatives, and partners in the waste recycling sector.
Moroti Adedoyin-Adeyinka, Executive Director at Sahara Group, noted that the hub is expected to encourage stronger recycling habits in the area:
“This facility is not just a collection point; it contributes to building cleaner communities and strengthening the culture of recycling across Lagos.”
Dr Anthony Youdeowei, Board Trustee, Sahara Group Foundation and MD Sahara Power Group, commended the collaboration between Sahara Group Foundation, Asharami Synergy, the Sahara Group 2025 Graduate Management Trainees, and Eco Barter, describing the hub as reflective of Sahara’s belief that sustainability must be practical, accessible, and community driven.
The Lekki project was jointly executed with Eco Barter, a recycling technology and waste management startup, alongside the 2025 Sahara Group Graduate Management Trainees, who participated as part of their sustainability-focused PSCR project.
Representing the trainee cohort, Elushade Oluwatumininu said the experience underscores the importance of youth involvement in environmental initiatives:
“Being part of this project shows how small but consistent actions can influence long-term environmental outcomes.”
Eco Barter’s CEO, Rita Idehai, described the partnership as an example of how collaboration can accelerate local circular economy efforts:
“Together, we are building a system that rewards responsible disposal and brings recycling solutions closer to communities.”
Sahara Group Foundation says it plans to extend the Go-Recycling Initiative to more communities within Lagos and eventually to other African cities. The programme forms part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to “Building Sustainable Communities through EXTRApreneurship.”

Thanks for the new things you have discovered in your article. One thing I want to touch upon is that FSBO connections are built as time passes. By releasing yourself to the owners the first saturday their FSBO is definitely announced, before the masses begin calling on Thursday, you generate a good interconnection. By sending them equipment, educational components, free reports, and forms, you become the ally. By subtracting a personal interest in them along with their circumstance, you generate a solid relationship that, on most occasions, pays off when the owners opt with a broker they know along with trust — preferably you.
I have realized that over the course of making a relationship with real estate proprietors, you’ll be able to get them to understand that, in most real estate purchase, a commission is paid. Finally, FSBO sellers will not “save” the percentage. Rather, they struggle to earn the commission through doing an agent’s job. In the process, they commit their money in addition to time to carry out, as best they could, the duties of an broker. Those assignments include getting known the home by means of marketing, presenting the home to all buyers, creating a sense of buyer desperation in order to make prompt an offer, booking home inspections, managing qualification inspections with the bank, supervising maintenance, and assisting the closing of the deal.
