From all across Nigeria, they convened to deliberate on the nation’s environmental and sustainability realities; but participants got more than they expected, as out of the host of attendees, 25 were rewarded with raffle prizes courtesy of Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company (SEEPCO).
Through its SEEPCO Smile Initiative, a global sustainability campaign driven by the vision “bringing smiles with each barrel and a breath of pen”, the company added colour and excitement to the Nigeria Environment Outlook 2025, rewarding participants and reinforcing its long-term commitment to sustainability through education, health, sports, livelihoods, and empowerment.
The event, hosted by Environment Africa Magazine on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the VCP Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, drew together government dignitaries, corporate leaders, sustainability experts, and environmental advocates to chart Nigeria’s path toward a greener and more resilient future.
As part of its sustainability outreach, SEEPCO sponsored an engaging “Lucky Dip and Internet Engagement” activity that encouraged participants to connect with sustainability-related content online by scanning unique QR codes. From the large pool of entries, 25 participants emerged winners in the raffle draw, each receiving consolation prizes from SEEPCO.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Aveek Biswas, Head of Corporate Communications at SEEPCO, described the SEEPCO Smile Initiative as a global movement designed to inspire positive change and bring lasting impact to communities. According to him, the initiative focuses on projects that create joy while addressing key areas such as education, health, sports, sustainable livelihoods, and empowerment.
The day’s lucky winners walked away with a variety of branded gifts, including plush neck rests, embossed mugs, eco-friendly water flasks, and colourful pens, among others.
Through this thoughtful gesture, SEEPCO reaffirmed its dedication to advancing environmental consciousness and fostering active engagement in Nigeria’s sustainability dialogue — truly spreading smiles, one initiative at a time.
