The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) has commenced a three-day high-impact leadership training aimed at equipping its senior management team with modern leadership skills and strategic tools to strengthen institutional performance and prepare the corporation for future challenges.
The programme, themed “Building a Future Ready Utility Company,” is taking place at the corporation’s headquarters, Water-House, Ijora, Lagos, from October 14 to 16, 2025. It is designed for LWC’s directorate-level executives and focuses on enhancing self-awareness, emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, and leadership communication.
Speaking during the opening session, the Managing Director, Engr. Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani, described the initiative as part of the corporation’s renewed drive to foster visionary leadership and strengthen public service delivery in the water sector.
He expressed appreciation to the facilitators — Mr. Tokunbo Adeboye and Mrs. Funmi Adegoke of Sales Foxce Multidynamics Limited — for their commitment to knowledge sharing, noting that the training will enable participants to remain competitive, improve teamwork, and align departmental objectives with the overall vision of the corporation.
“This program is a timely investment in our people. As leaders, we must stay ahead of change and ensure that Lagos Water Corporation continues to serve the public effectively in a rapidly evolving environment,” Engr. Tijani said, adding that he looks forward to joining the final session of the workshop.
Delivering an overview of the training, facilitator Mr. Tokunbo Adeboye explained that the High-Impact Leadership module is designed to help leaders drive meaningful change through strategic thinking, innovation, and team performance.
“This is a discussion-based, forward-looking programme meant to build high-performing teams and leaders capable of influencing outcomes and creating value for the future of the corporation,” he noted.
The training spans three days, with multiple sessions each day focusing on key leadership themes:
- Day 1: Understanding Strategy, Strategy Planning, and Strategic Leadership
- Day 2: Defining High-Impact Leadership (Parts I & II), and Emotional Intelligence and Communication for Leaders
- Day 3: Leading People, Driving Performance, and Coaching and Talent Development
The final day will also feature a wrap-up session and case study on real-life leadership scenarios.
Among the top management staff in attendance were Engr. Ogunlewe Bolaji (Director, Distribution), Engr. Ewunmi Femi (Production Manager, Iju Waterworks), Engr. Olajide (Production Manager, Akute Intake), Mrs. Peju Isola (Divisional Director, CCC), Mr. Adenekan Rilwan (Director, Inventory), Mrs. Saint-John Olabisi Olubunmi (Director, Finance and Accounts), Mr. Tola Fadare (Director, Compliance and Quality Management), and Mr. Tajudeen Ekunsunmi (Director, Procurement).
