NAEC 2025: Sterling Oil Spotlights Green Transition – Turning Sustainability Promises to Measurable Action in Nigeria

These disclosures were  made at the Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC) 2025 Annual Conference held today in Lagos. by Dr. Chris Offokansi, Head of Human Resources and Industrial Relations, who represented Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company (SEEPCO), one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous upstream oil exploration companies.

Delivering a compelling address, Dr. Chris Offokansi revealed that over 90% of SEEPCO’s vehicle and equipment fleet now operate on compressed natural gas (CNG), a bold switch that the company reports has already achieved a 25% reduction in overall emissions from its operations.

Addressing an elite audience of industry heavyweights, Dr. Offokansi affirmed that SEEPCO has upgraded its barges with structural enhancements to better protect Nigeria’s waterways from pollution or accidental spills. He also outlined the firm’s intensifying green footprint: robust waste management systems, water conservation regimes, and a tree-planting initiative surpassing 10,000 seedlings in host communities.

Offokansi, an environment and sustainability expert, clarified that these figures are not mere milestones but represent SEEPCO’s commitment to acting with accountability.
