The drive for climate innovation in Central Africa has taken a major leap forward as the Cameroon Climate Innovation Hub (CAMCIH) was officially launched at ICT University, Yaoundé; signalling a national commitment to harness science, technology, and enterprise as tools for sustainable development and climate resilience.
The launch ceremony drew a cross-section of key stakeholders all united by a shared mission: advancing climate action through collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange.
At its core, CAMCIH is designed to be a catalyst, fostering research, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven solutions that tackle the realities of climate change while unlocking opportunities for inclusive economic growth. The Hub’s framework emphasizes youth empowerment, partnership building, and the integration of local expertise into global innovation networks.
Speaking at the event, representatives from ICT University and partner institutions underscored the significance of the Hub’s establishment in bridging science and sustainability. “This is not just an innovation space,” one official noted, “it is a movement; a convergence point for the ideas and technologies that will define Cameroon’s green future.”
The launch received national attention, spotlighting the country’s growing momentum in climate innovation.
For ICT University, hosting CAMCIH represents both a strategic and symbolic milestone — anchoring the nation’s climate discourse within the academic and innovation ecosystem. It reaffirms a collective determination to transform ideas into impact, and to inspire a generation of climate thinkers, doers, and entrepreneurs.
As Cameroon takes this bold step, the Cameroon Climate Innovation Hub positions itself as more than a physical space; it is a vision in motion, shaping a sustainable future through research, enterprise, and shared knowledge.
