Efforts to expand economic inclusion for Nigerian youth and women received a significant boost as the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Dayo Israel, and the APC Deputy National Women Leader, Hajiya Zainab Ibrahim, paid a courtesy visit to the National Programme Manager (NPM) of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), Mr. Hamza Baba, at the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) headquarters in Abuja.
The high-level engagement focused on grassroots sensitisation, enhanced access to microcredit, digital registration, and preparations for the rollout of GEEP 3.0.
It also aligns with ongoing consultations between political youth and women leaders and government agencies implementing social investment programmes aimed at promoting inclusive economic growth and community development.
During the meeting, the GEEP National Programme Manager, Mr. Baba, commended the APC youth and women leaders for their proactive engagement with federal empowerment initiatives. He highlighted GEEP’s strategic priorities for 2025, including digital registration of beneficiaries, expansion of microcredit facilities, and capacity building for small-scale entrepreneurs and traders.
Mr. Baba reaffirmed GEEP’s commitment to collaborating with credible youth and women networks to expand outreach and ensure that more Nigerians benefit from the programme’s enterprise support and loan schemes. Both parties agreed to convene a technical follow-up session to design a joint action framework for collaboration and grassroots mobilisation.
Key discussion points included coordinated outreach campaigns, digital awareness drives, and strategies to strengthen community-level sensitisation and access to GEEP loans under the upcoming GEEP 3.0 phase.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to enhancing entrepreneurship, promoting financial inclusion, and accelerating grassroots empowerment across Nigeria.
The collaboration between GEEP and APC’s youth and women structures is expected to strengthen the impact of the Federal Government’s economic empowerment agenda, ensuring that more young people and women can access opportunities for enterprise growth and sustainable livelihoods.
