- To Promote Credible Reporting on Tax Reforms 2025
In a move aimed at strengthening public understanding and discourse around Nigeria’s ongoing tax reforms, 20 journalists will be winners and runners -up of the newly launched Excellence in Tax Reporting awards in January 2026.
The Awards is a new initiative by ‘The Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee’ to recognize journalists and digital influencers for balanced and impactful reporting on tax reforms.
According to the committee, the award is designed to encourage accurate storytelling, promote transparency, and counter misinformation about the government’s tax reform agenda, which seeks to modernize Nigeria’s fiscal system and improve compliance.
Announcing the awards during a press briefing and strategic engagement with media and influencers, the Committee’s Chairman, Professor Taiwo Oyedele, emphasized the critical role of the media in shaping national conversations.
“The media is central to building public trust,” Oyedele said. “By equipping and rewarding journalists and influencers, we aim to ensure that the tax reform conversation is constructive, inclusive, and anchored in truth. This is how we build confidence in reforms designed to secure our nation’s future.”
