The Kano–Jigawa branch of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has acknowledged the positive impact of the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals on Nigeria’s manufacturing landscape, particularly in reducing operational costs for industries dependent on diesel and other petroleum products.
At the ongoing MAN Annual Products Exhibition held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, the branch chairman, Muhammad Bello Isyaku Umar, said the recent price adjustments and consistent supply of diesel from the refinery have begun to revive struggling businesses and improve productivity across several industrial clusters.
“The availability of affordable diesel has helped many previously struggling companies resume operations, stabilize production, and retain their workforce,” Umar noted.
He explained that reliable access to energy remains one of the most significant challenges faced by manufacturers, especially those operating outside the national grid or in areas with limited power infrastructure.
According to him, the refinery’s role in improving fuel supply and easing energy costs has “brought renewed optimism” to Nigeria’s industrial community. He added that the refinery’s contributions align with MAN’s vision of advancing industrial sustainability and competitiveness through partnerships with strategic stakeholders.
The MAN chairman disclosed that the association is exploring new areas of collaboration with the Dangote Refinery to enhance energy efficiency and strengthen local manufacturing capacity.
He also highlighted the refinery’s potential to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products while supporting local value chains.
“The refinery represents a major step toward energy self-sufficiency, and by extension, supports national efforts to rebuild confidence in the industrial sector,” he said.
The event, themed “Made in Nigeria: Revitalizing Local Industries for Economic Growth,” brought together manufacturers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and consumers to showcase locally made products and innovations driving Nigeria’s economy.
Declaring the exhibition open, Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, said the fair reflects Kano’s enduring role as a major industrial hub and reaffirms the importance of production and innovation in building a self-reliant national economy.
“This exhibition is not just a display of goods and services—it is a statement of confidence that Nigeria’s economic growth lies in manufacturing and creativity,” the governor’s representative said.
Dangote Industries Limited, a major sponsor of this year’s exhibition, featured prominently with displays of its key products, including Dangote Cement, Dangote Sugar, Dangote Salt and Seasoning, and Dangote Fertiliser.
Participants at the event also discussed the broader contributions of the Dangote Group to national development, citing its role in job creation, infrastructure investment, and tax and CSR contributions.
The Manufacturers Association reaffirmed its commitment to partnerships that promote industrial innovation and inclusive economic growth, describing the annual exhibition as a continuing platform for collaboration and policy dialogue between the public and private sectors.
