Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has been recognised as the Best Corporate Training Partner 2025 by the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN). The announcement was made at the 4th edition of the OGTAN Human Capital Development (HCD) Awards in Lagos, a ceremony that celebrates excellence in building the nation’s workforce.

The accolade underscores NLNG’s deep and sustained investment in workforce training, skills transfer, and capacity development within Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. According to OGTAN, the company has distinguished itself through consistent partnerships with accredited training providers, sponsorship of industry-focused programmes, and education-driven Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives — all of which have delivered measurable impact.

Receiving the award on behalf of the company, Emmanuel Uleh, Head of Nigerian Content Compliance Assurance & Monitor at NLNG, said human capital development has always been central to the company’s vision. He noted that NLNG’s approach is both a Nigerian Content requirement and a core part of its broader CSR agenda, with education at its heart.

“At inception, NLNG deliberately promoted local capacity development by training Nigerian technicians and operators for the operation and maintenance of its plant on Bonny Island,” Uleh explained. “Today, that strategy has yielded remarkable results: the company has a 100% Nigerian management team and a workforce that is over 95% Nigerian.”

Over the years, NLNG has scaled its impact through strategic partnerships, equipping thousands of Nigerians with industry-relevant skills. Under the Bonny Gas Transport Plus Project, more than 600 Nigerians have trained in Nigeria and South Korea in advanced disciplines such as naval architecture, shipbuilding, welding, and fabrication. In collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and OGTAN, the company has also trained over 150 professionals through its asset projects.

Currently, under its Train 7 Project Human Capital Development commitments, more than 400 Nigerians are undergoing training, including over 140 in plant maintenance roles and over 200 community youths preparing for future operations.

Beyond technical skills, NLNG’s CSR programmes continue to prioritize education at all levels. From scholarships for post-primary and undergraduate students in Nigeria to postgraduate sponsorships abroad in highly technical fields, the company has positioned education as a critical driver of national progress.

Uleh emphasised that NLNG’s contributions align with Nigeria’s wider development goals and sustainability priorities, adding that the company remains committed to inspiring a sustainable future as a globally competitive energy player.
