The Executive Secretary of the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN), Dr. Clement Isong, will join leading voices in the energy sector this September to explore how digital innovation is transforming Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
His presentation will form part of the 2025 News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Press Week Lecture, scheduled for September 22–26 in Lagos, under the theme “Transforming Energy: The Digital Evolution of Oil and Gas.”
The event, according to a statement signed by Mrs. Vivian Ihechu, Chairman of the Press Week Committee, and Mr. Adeyemi Adeleye, Secretary of the NUJ NAN Lagos Chapel, will feature top policymakers, academics, and industry experts in a week of dialogue and celebration.
Highlighting the programme is the symposium and lecture billed for September 24 at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Main Hall Sports Centre, Surulere. Keynote speaker, Mr. Ismaeel Ahmed, Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi), will lead discussions on Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape.
Dr. Isong’s contribution is expected to shed light on how downstream oil and gas operators are deploying digital tools to streamline distribution, combat leakages, and enhance consumer services. “Dr. Clement Isong of MEMAN will provide insights on how digitalisation is redefining the downstream petroleum sector and strengthening energy security,” Ihechu explained.
Other notable speakers include Dr. Muda Yusuf, CEO of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE); Prof. Wumi Iledare, Emeritus Professor of Petroleum Economics at Louisiana State University; and Mr. Olohungbo Jimoh, Lagos State Commissioner of Police. The occasion will be chaired by Mr. Wole Ogunsanya, Chairman of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) and MD/CEO of Geoplex Drillteq Ltd.
The weeklong Press Week will also feature a series of side events. On September 22, a health walk and free medical outreach will kick off the celebrations, starting at Teslim Balogun Stadium and ending at NAN’s premises at the National Arts Theatre, Iganmu. A Cultural Day, showcasing Nigeria’s diverse heritage, will follow on September 23 at NAN’s Multi-purpose Media Complex.
Ihechu, who is also Assistant Editor-in-Chief at NAN, said the 2025 edition underscores the agency’s Lagos Chapel commitment to engaging with pressing national issues. “Our programmes are designed to be insightful and solution-driven, fostering meaningful conversations on journalism, development, and the future of Nigeria’s economy,” she said.
With participation expected from policymakers, corporate leaders, academics, and the media, the Press Week is set to provide a vibrant platform for national discourse.
