The Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) has expressed concern over the rising tension in the downstream oil and gas sector, warning that any industrial action could severely disrupt petroleum supply and distribution across the country.
In a statement issued by its Executive Secretary, Olufemi A. Adewole, the association underscored the importance of maintaining industrial harmony, stressing that stability in the sector is vital for protecting jobs, safeguarding government revenues, and ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply to businesses and households nationwide.
DAPPMAN appealed to all parties involved in the dispute to show restraint and embrace constructive dialogue. The association specifically urged the Federal Government to intervene swiftly and address the grievances of stakeholders in order to prevent disruptions that would impact ordinary Nigerians and the wider economy.
“Our consistent position has always been to collaborate with government, labour unions, investors, and other stakeholders to create a win-win situation that sustains investment, protects workers’ rights, and guarantees uninterrupted supply of petroleum products,” the association stated.
While acknowledging the challenges facing the industry, DAPPMAN emphasized that confrontation or strike action would only worsen the situation. Instead, the group called for renewed negotiations that are fair, balanced, and capable of delivering sustainable solutions.
The association reiterated its commitment to working constructively with all stakeholders to ensure peace, cooperation, and long-term progress in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector — for the benefit of both the economy and citizens.
