L – R: Mr. Francis Nwaochei, In-coming Council Chairman, Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Nigeria Council; Engr. Dr. Amina Danmadami, Council Chairman, SPE; Mr. Etta Agbhor, In-coming Vice Chairman, SPE & Dr. Ikechukwu Okafor, Council Secretary, SPE, at the press conference to announce the 2025 edition of Nigeria Annual International Conference & Exhibition in Lagos
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council has officially unveiled its flagship event, SPENAICE 2025, at a press conference held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos. The event, scheduled for August 2–6, promises to be the most impactful edition yet, spotlighting technology, policy, and local talent in Nigeria’s energy transition journey.
Speaking at the media briefing, the Chairperson of the SPE Nigeria Council, Engr. Dr. Amina Danmadami, emphasized that the 2025 edition of SPENAICE—formerly NAICE—is more than a technical gathering. It is, she said, “West Africa’s premier meeting point for energy innovation, policy dialogue, and professional excellence,” with over 4,000 delegates and more than 80 exhibiting companies expected to participate.
Themed “Building a Sustainable Energy Future: Leveraging Technology, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Policy,” SPENAICE 2025 arrives at a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s energy sector.
According to Dr. Danmadami, the theme speaks directly to global and local realities: the accelerating global shift toward low-carbon energy and Nigeria’s need to balance economic growth with sustainability imperatives.
“We are calling the industry to action—connecting four essential pillars: technology, supply chain, human resources, and policy,” she said.
The upcoming conference will feature strategic sessions and exhibitions addressing:
- Technology: Digital oilfields, modular gas processing, and advanced surveillance systems will be showcased as tools for improving operational efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
- Supply Chain: The need to deepen local content and reduce import dependency will take center stage as Nigeria tackles inflationary and foreign exchange pressures.
- Human Capital: NSIPA-style training and youth engagement will complement the industry’s response to workforce evolution in an era of transition.
- Policy Alignment: SPENAICE will provide a neutral platform for discussing investor-friendly regulatory reforms and Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy aspiration.
Nigeria currently produces around 1.75 million barrels of oil and condensates per day, with plans to ramp up production to 2.7 million bpd by 2030. Simultaneously, the country’s 209 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves are being positioned as the key transitional fuel.
“Reaching those targets requires innovation in gas monetization, infrastructure, field recovery, and security,” said Dr. Danmadami. “SPENAICE 2025 will spotlight practical, homegrown solutions to help achieve these goals.”
One of the defining developments in Nigeria’s oil and gas landscape over the past year has been the wave of divestments by international oil companies from onshore and shallow water assets. Dr. Danmadami described this as a “historic inflection point” that tests the resilience and technical capacity of indigenous operators.
SPE Nigeria, she said, is supporting the transition by enabling knowledge exchange, skills redeployment, and partnerships between local and global stakeholders. “We must turn divestments into dividends,” she declared.
The SPE Chair highlighted Nigeria’s vast gas wealth as a vital bridge to a lower-carbon economy. She stressed the importance of expanding infrastructure to monetize gas for power and industry, curb flaring, and boost exports.
Technical sessions at SPENAICE 2025 will demonstrate real-world solutions across the gas value chain—from processing to storage and distribution.
Designed to surpass previous editions, this year’s SPENAICE will include:
- High-Level Leadership Panels: Bringing together policymakers, regulators, investors, and innovators for forward-looking dialogue.
- Next-Gen Programs: Youth mentorship, family engagement, and inclusive capacity development sessions.
- Technology-Driven Exhibitions: More than 80 exhibitors will present innovations across digital energy, low-carbon technologies, and enhanced recovery systems.
“SPENAICE 2025 is where Nigeria’s energy past meets its future—and solutions move from conversation to action,” Dr. Danmadami stated.
Closing her remarks, the SPE Chair emphasized the critical role of the media in shaping public perception and policy on energy.
“You are the storytellers of our industry’s journey,” she told journalists. “Through your coverage, we can spotlight the energy transition through a Nigerian lens, tell the local content story in the divestment era, and highlight the breakthroughs shaping our economy.”
She urged the press to capture and amplify the conference narratives as Nigeria strides toward a sustainable, $1 trillion energy economy.

Hi there! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website? I’m getting fed up of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
