Employees of the Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) led by its Administration and Human Resources Department (AHRD), on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, joined their global counterparts to mark the International Human Resources Day (IHRD) 2025, under the theme “Leading Change in a Dynamic World”.
The global theme reflects the pivotal role of Human Resource professionals in navigating a rapidly evolving workplace landscape, championing innovation, and creating enabling environments where both people and organisations can grow and succeed.

Celebrating the importance of HR and recognizing the vital role of Human Resources professionals in shaping inclusive and future-ready workplaces, the Director of Administration and Human Resources at LWC, Mr. Hakeem Kosoko, highlighted the Corporation’s alignment with these ideals by commending the visionary leadership of the Managing Director, Engr. Mukhtaar Tijani.
He praised Engr. Tijani’s steadfast commitment to employee development, strategic planning, and organisational growth, all of which are critical to the Corporation’s long-term success.
Mr. Kosoko noted that under Engr. Tijani’s leadership, LWC has made significant strides in:
- Enhancing workforce skills and knowledge
- Fostering employee engagement and preparing talent for future leadership roles
- Defining clear organisational direction and optimizing resource allocation
- Improving service delivery, increasing revenue, and expanding the customer base

International Human Resource Day, officially recognised in 2019, is spearheaded by the World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA) and the European Association for People Management (EAPM) to celebrate the indispensable role of HR professionals around the world.
